We Lead By 34. We Act
Like It's Zero.

May 21, 2026
Passions
Right now we lead the championship by 34 points. I'll let myself enjoy that for about ten seconds — and then it's back to work. Because the number doesn't change how we operate. We treat this season like we have no lead at all.

+34

Points clear, and we're treating it like zero.
I know how this sounds coming from the team out front. But a long season punishes anyone who starts believing the standings owe them something. The lead is real, and I'm proud of it. It's also fragile. One stretch of complacency and it's gone — and we know it. So we don't carry a 34-point mindset into the shop. We carry a no-point mindset, every single day.

Because that lead didn't happen by accident. It didn't happen because we got lucky, or because the schedule broke our way, or because the competition had an off year. It's the visible result of a thousand things nobody sees. And the only way to protect it is to keep doing those thousand things as if we're chasing, not leading.

People ask me all the time how a team gets here. They want one answer — one secret, one hire, one decision. The truth is less satisfying and far more demanding. Success isn't one big thing. It's one million small things. Tiny decisions, made correctly, over and over, until they stack into an outcome that looks impossible from the outside.

The standard is daily

When we're in the shop, we think about every single detail. Not the important ones — every one. We hold meetings every single day. Not because we love meetings, but because the margin between leading a championship and chasing one lives in the details you choose to ignore.

Here's the part most people don't want to hear. If your passion isn't at 100% every single day — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year — you will not produce outcomes like this. That intensity isn't a marketing line. It's the actual cost of admission. Relentlessness isn't a mood you summon on race weekend. It's a standard you hold on the quiet Tuesday in the shop when nobody's watching.

Success isn't one big thing. It's one million small decisions that add up.

Will we fail? of course

Let me be honest about failure, because pretending it won't come is how teams fool themselves. Will we fail? Of course we will. We already have, and we will again. The difference is what happens next. We learn from it. We dissect it the same way we dissect a slow corner — without ego, without blame, looking only for the truth.

It sounds cliché. I know it does. But it's the truth, and I'd rather tell you something true than something clever.

I bet on people

This year I took some big risks with team personnel. Those weren't easy calls, and not everyone agreed with me. But I've learned to trust what I look for in people, and it's never just one quality. It's a combination.

HUNGRY — THEY WANT IT MORE THAN THE NEXT PERSON. ATTENTIVE — THEY CATCH THE DETAIL OTHERS MISS. DRIVEN TO BE GOOD — GENUINELY, NOT FOR SHOW.

I pay just as much attention to the things that don't show up on a résumé. Their manners. Their disposition. Whether they fit the room — because our garage is a room, and one wrong disposition can poison the whole thing. Talent gets you in the conversation. Character gets you on the team.

When you get that combination right, you don't have to push people. They push themselves, and they push each other. That's when a group of individuals becomes an organization. That's what a 34-point lead actually measures.

So if you take one thing from this, take this: there is no shortcut, no hack, no single decision that delivers a result like the one we're living right now. There is only the relentless, unglamorous, daily work of getting a million small things right — and the willingness to learn fast on the days you get them wrong.

We're up 34. We're acting like it's zero. And that's exactly why we're up 34.
